I’m Nate - a Data Scientist by trade, Machine Learning Engineer by passion, and an Economist at heart.

For more than a decade, I have been exploring the depths of data science & analytics. In my journey, I have gained a wealth of experience working with structured and unstructured data, writing Python and SQL scripts, building machine learning models, creating data visualizations, and implementing inferential statistics. I understand how to drive business value through thoughtful design, deep understanding of machine learning, and the ability to translate data into meaningful insights.

My academic background is rooted in Data Science, Statistics, and Economics. I completed my Master of Science in Data Science from Northwestern University in 2019, specializing in Analytics & Modeling. Prior to that, I earned Bachelor degrees from San Francisco State University in 2012 and triple majored in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Economics.

On the personal side, I was born in Ethiopia, grew up in San Jose, and now live in Oakland with my wife, Christine Belete, and our two cats, Chiko and Gypsy. I am passionate about financial literacy and higher education, and when I'm not working with data, you can find me playing basketball at the local gym, weightlifting, attending a comedy show, or spending quality time with my loved ones.
